Battling Pickiness
Battling pickiness head on won't make it go away, and may only strengthen you child's resolve. Make it a family rule that you have to try everything once. You can make this easier by serving new foods before the rest of the meal, when your child is hungriest. Or, as a compromise, offer her a smaller portion of her favorite alongside something you would like he or she to eat.

Small Steps to Healthy Habits
Take small steps that introduce healthier items into your child's diet. For instance, offer pasta with tomato sauce over macaroni and cheese, replace white bread with whole wheat, and when you are making cookies, use whole grain flours and rolled oats. If your child does not get enough protein in her diet, try blending tofu into spaghetti sauces.
